Connecting Cultures

This picture describes the partnership between cultures of a White American male and an Indian male. It shows the interest of the fur to both societies even though both come from different backgrounds and environments. Fur trading united all different types of people in the 16th century and lead to many new opportunities all around the world.

Interesting picture to choose, Christina. Fur trade has such a negative connotation, now days. Killing an animal for it's fur is thought, by many, to be heinous. Obviously, years ago such wonderful alternatives to warm outerwear were not readily available. The positive aspect of working together with others, and bringing nations together through trade is depicted in this black and white piece.
